Online Auction Tips for Bidders

As a bidder you need to find out if the online auction you want to bid on is by a credible seller. An online auction should allow you to check out the seller’s other online auction sites. In this way, you can find out if the seller is a credible trader or if he has a reputation as a scammer.

The online auction site should also provide information about the sellers previous sales. You should be able to check the sellers feedback and comments from previous clients.

A seller should also have knowledge about the product he is selling. His auction should provide specific details that will allow his bidder to find out all he needs about the product he will be bidding on. There have been instances of fake products being auctioned. To be able to bid in safety consider the following tips regarding the credibility of the trade:

1. The bidder should gather information about the item he wants to buy. Make a copy of the product details and description in case of problems in the future. He should know the item’s true value, if it has been sold and at what price in previous auctions.

2. The bidder should check that the images on the site are of the actual items that will be sold. It is possible for a seller to modify an image to create a new and attractive picture of the item that will be auctioned. In this case, when the item is delivered, it will be different from the item that was auctioned online.

3. Check the auction site’s comments and feedback area, to get information about other bidders’ transactions and conversations about the product. Previous buyers are allowed to display their rating regarding the products’ effectiveness.

4. The bidder should know the normal cost of the product before starting the bidding process. Sometimes products are priced higher than their true value.

5. In any market there will be scammers. Online auctions are no exception. Shilling is a scam to look out for; An accomplice of the seller will bid against you so that you increase your bid. Sometimes this happens when your starting bid is very low, suddenly the partners of the seller will also bid to force you up to the true price of the product.

Buying at online auctions is both convenient and easy, and can often be a good way to get a bargain.
